This describes what the Asset Ranch Chrome extension accesses, how it's used, and what is — and isn't — collected.

What Asset Ranch does
Asset Ranch builds software tools for IT teams. Its first tool, Device Locator for Meraki Networks, is a Chrome extension that finds devices on your Meraki network by MAC address, using a Meraki Dashboard API key that you provide.
Using the extension without an account
You don't need an Asset Ranch account to use the extension. Without one, the API key and Organization ID you enter are kept only in your browser's local extension storage and are used to talk directly to Meraki. Nothing you search for, and none of your Meraki credentials, is sent to Asset Ranch.
If you create an account
When you sign up we store your first name, your email address, and your password — which we keep only as a salted one-way hash, so nobody at Asset Ranch can read it. We use your email to sign you in and to send account emails, such as password resets.
If you then log in from the extension, it sends us a record of the devices you look up so we can show you a history: the MAC address searched, whether it was found, the access point name and IP address Meraki reported, and the time. If you give a device a nickname or upload a device list, we store that too.
Paid features
Some features — background tracking, "tell me when it reappears" emails, and syncing your saved networks between browsers — need us to check your network on your behalf. To do that we store the Meraki API key and Organization ID you provide on our server, and use them only to look up the devices you've asked us to watch. We never change anything on your network, and we recommend using an API key from a read-only Meraki dashboard account. When a device you asked us to watch reappears, we email you. Payments for paid plans, when they are available, are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers.
- We don't use analytics or advertising trackers. The only cookie we set is the one that keeps you signed in.
- We don't change anything on your Meraki network.
One thing worth knowing: this site loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google when a page loads.
Your control
- You can clear your lookup history from your dashboard at any time.
- From your dashboard you can log out every browser that's signed in to your account.
- To delete your account and everything stored with it, email info@assetranch.com.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
