Terms of Service
The terms that apply when you use Asset Ranch's website, browser extension, or a paid plan.
Last updated: September 28, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Asset Ranch ("Asset Ranch," "we," "us") governing your use of the Asset Ranch website, the Device Locator for Meraki Networks browser extension, and any related paid plans (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, installing the extension, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
1. Who can use the Service
You must be able to form a legally binding contract to use the Service. If you're using the Service on behalf of an organization, you're confirming you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms, and "you" in that case refers to both you and the organization.
2. Your account
You're responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us right away at info@assetranch.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission. You're responsible for making sure the information you give us — including your first name and email — is accurate.
3. The Meraki API key you provide
The Service works by using a Meraki Dashboard API key that you provide, to look up and (on paid plans) periodically check devices on your own Meraki network on your behalf. You're responsible for the API key you give us, for the permissions it grants, and for making sure you're authorized to use it to access that network. We recommend using an API key from a read-only Meraki dashboard account where possible. We will never knowingly use your API key to make changes to your network.
4. Free and paid plans
The Service offers a free plan and paid subscription plans, described on our plans page. We may change what each plan includes, add or remove plans, or change prices going forward; we'll give you reasonable notice before a price change takes effect for an existing subscription.
5. Billing, renewal, and cancellation
Paid plans are billed in advance, either monthly or annually, and renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel first. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number. You can cancel anytime from your account's billing settings — cancelling stops future renewals, but we don't provide refunds or credits for the remainder of a billing period already paid for, except where required by law. You're responsible for any taxes associated with your purchase, other than taxes based on our own income.
If a payment fails, we may retry it, downgrade your account to the free plan, or suspend paid features until it's resolved.
6. Team and Organization plans
On a Team or Organization plan, the account that pays for the subscription (the "owner") can invite other people to share it. Each person's own devices, lookup history, and Meraki credentials stay private to them — only the subscription itself, and the number of people who can use it, is shared. An owner can remove a member at any time; a removed member's account drops to the free plan immediately. If the owner's subscription lapses or is cancelled, every member's account drops to the free plan as well.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Access, or attempt to access, a Meraki network or device you're not authorized to access;
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or the servers or networks it relies on;
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the extension or website, except where the law gives you the right to do so despite this restriction;
- Use the Service to build a competing product;
- Violate any applicable law, or the terms of your own agreement with Meraki/Cisco.
8. Intellectual property
Asset Ranch owns the Service, including the website and the extension, and all associated trademarks and branding. These Terms don't grant you any ownership in the Service — only the right to use it as described here. You keep ownership of the data you provide (like your device nicknames and lookup history); by using the Service, you give us permission to store and use that data as needed to provide the Service to you, as described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will always successfully detect or notify you about a device on your network — Meraki's own API and your network conditions are outside our control.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Asset Ranch won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service won't exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or $50 if you're on the free plan.
11. Termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time by emailing info@assetranch.com. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, or if we discontinue the Service, with notice where reasonably possible.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll post the updated Terms here with a new "last updated" date, and where practical, let you know some other way (such as by email). Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the new Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
14. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent to info@assetranch.com or through the contact page.
